NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 12 – A businessman has been charged with operating a gas filling station illegally in Nairobi.
Adan Hassan was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu following a warrant of arrest against him.
Charges read to him indicate that he has been operating a gas re-fill business illegally in Industrial Area since April 2021.
He has been ordered to pay a cash bail of Sh2 million or Sh5 million bond.
He was charged days after an explosion at an illegal gas plant in Embakasi killed 7 and left dozens injured.
The owner and four NEMA directors were taken to court and police allowed to conclude investigation before they can be charged.
