NAIROBI, Jan 15 – DAP-K Party has summoned Mumias East MP Peter Salasya for chaotic conduct after he slapped a County Assembly member at a funeral last week.

Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa said the party is keen to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident and others where Salasya has been accused of misconduct.

Salasya was arrested after slapping a County Assembly member at a funeral and is out on bond pending charges in court.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday after Salasya’s court appearance.

Wamalwa acknowledged that the first-term MP may be grappling with anger management issues but emphasized the need for mentoring him and other young leaders experiencing similar challenges.

Wamalwa commended Salasya’s achievements but also recognized the importance of addressing the issues for which he is being blamed.

Following the incident, two of his bodyguards were arrested and disarmed after firing shots into the air during the altercation at a funeral.

In addition to the assault charges, police have said Salasya will also face charges of creating a disturbance.

The incident occurred when the Malaha/Isongo Ward MCA, Peter Walunya Indimuli, invited Salasya to the podium at the funeral and requested him to maintain decorum in his speech.

Salasya has been under scrutiny for various incidents, including multiple arrests in the past year.
