NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 11 – Employment slots circulated on a public jobs portal with nearly 15,000 members on Facebook do not exist.
A forum registered as Online Jobs in Kenya posted the job offers on January 5, 2022, suggesting that one of Kenya’s leading retail brands Naivas Supermarket was recruiting for six positions including cashiers.
The post attracted multiple comments by the group’s followers who expressed interest in the alleged job openings.
The portal listed a phone number through which those interested were to contact a Human Resource Manager via WhatsApp.
A review of Naivas Supermarket’s online platforms including social media however revealed no such job opportunities were advertised.
This fact check also established that the contact is not listed among the supermarket’s phone numbers which are publicly available in its branding and contact us section of the website and its verified social media pages including Twitter and Facebook.
The advert is therefore fraudulent.
