(Retired) Captain Chris B Kariuki, his wife Mrs. Gina Din-Kariuki, a prominent businesswoman and Africa’s most awarded PR authority, along with their son Naythan Kariuki, recently hosted a welcoming high tea at their residence in Nairobi. The event was held to welcome the new United States Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Margaret “Meg” Whitman, and her husband, Dr. Griffith Harsh IV, a renowned neurosurgeon. An afternoon high tea provides the perfect opportunity for socializing and coming together.
Meg Whitman was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate as the eighteenth United States Ambassador to Kenya on July 14, 2022. She formally presented her credentials to His Excellency, then President Uhuru Kenyatta, on August 5, 2022.
Ambassador Whitman brings extensive leadership experience from various business sectors, notably in Silicon Valley. She has held key positions as President and CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the Hewlett-Packard Company, both prominent multinational IT firms, as well as serving as President and CEO of eBay Inc., a leading online marketplace and digital payments company.
Additionally, Ms. Whitman has served on several corporate boards of directors, including Procter & Gamble and General Motors.
Guests at the invite-only event, which included some of Kenya’s foremost business leaders, civil society representatives, media practitioners, diplomats, lawyers, among others, were treated to an unforgettable afternoon of insights, camaraderie, networking, and fine dining showcasing the very best of Kenyan cuisine.
Adding to the ambiance, Ghetto Classics, a flagship program of the Art of Music Foundation founded by Elizabeth Njoroge, provided orchestral music for the afternoon, while David Muriithi, also known as DJ D-Lite, was the main attraction on the decks.
