NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 16 – Kenya Kwanza has settled on Hassan Omar Hassan, Fred Muteti, Zipporah Kering, David Sankok and Falhada Dekow as their representatives for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
A close source who sought anonymity told Capital FM News that the decision was made during a Parliamentary Group meeting at State House Nairobi led by President William Ruto.
“Those were the names that we voted for and we believe they will represent us well,” the source indicated.
Omar was the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) Mombasa gubernatorial Candidate in the August polls but lost.
Sankok is a former Nominated Member of Parliament, while Kering and Dekow are both former Women representatives in Nandi and Garissa Counties, respectively.
Muteti was Ruto’s 2022 Campaign Coordinator in the South-eastern Region.
The list of the above 5 was narrowed down from a list of 15 members to fit the slots accorded to Ruto’s led coalition at the regional Legislative Assembly.
The list will now be submitted to the National Assembly for voting.
The election is scheduled for Thursday.
Others who had expressed interest in the EALA positions include former Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden and Nairobi Lawyer Okengo Nyambane among others.
