Kioni says he is the bona fide Secretary General of Jubilee Party

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20 – Jeremiah Kioni now says he is the bona fide Secretary General of the Jubilee Party.

Speaking during a press conference at the Party Headquarters Thursday, Kioni indicated that the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal nullified the letter by the Registrar of Political Parties.

“What we wanted was this letter declared null and void because it is on this letter, on this authority of the office of Registrar of Political parties that those coup plotters were relying on. It is that one that was giving their actions the force of law and this is what they said in that judgement,” he explained.

He further stated that the party is intact and fully functional.

β€œTaking into consideration the totality of the forgoing circumstances, we order as follows:A declaration be and is hereby issued that the respondent’s letter that is the ORPP because she is the one we had taken to court, dated Feb 13, 2013 is null and void and of no consequential effect,” he indicated as he quoted the judgement.

“If you have an issue with any of us, there is a procedure that you must follow. If you want to remove any of us like the SG, get the party leader to convene a NEC, then a decision will be made that will then be taken to the NDC.”

He indicated that party operations will go on as planned with the leaderhip structure in place.
