NAIROBI, Kenya June 16 – Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has dismissed the opposition coalition, Azimio, saying it has nothing to offer apart from dramatic statements.
Ngunyi who worked under former President Uhuru Kenyatta as one of his political advisors has been a die-hard supporter of the former Jubilee ruling party which went to bed with the Opposition and even formed Azimio coalition to front a candidate to succeed Kenyatta.
That candidate if longtime Opposition leader Raila Odinga who has lost the presidency a record five times, the most recent being in August last year when he was trounced by then Duputy President William Ruto.
“Azimio is full of Razzmatazz and Walhalla,” Ngunyi says in his latest suprise tweet, which goes on to describe Azimio as having “Too much FURY, signifying NOTHING”.
Ngunyi said Azimio stands to lose many political battles ahead because it has not learnt from the election loss despite having massive government support with the backing of the former president who openly campaigned for Odinga as his favourite successor.
“How they lost the war on #FinanceBill2023 is how they LOST the Supreme Court BATTLE. Too much DRAMA, no SUBSTANCE,” Ngunyi concludes.
After losing the election, Odinga filed a challenge at the Supreme Court which validated Ruto’s win.
But he still insisted he won the election and always maintains the need to have electoral commission servers opened to confirm the same.
Two months ago, he led stree protests for several weeks before he ceded ground for what was described as bi-partisan talks initiated by President Ruto and spearheaded by Parliament.
The talks collapsed last month and Odinga last week vowed to mobilise fresh protests if Parliament passes the controversial Finance Bill.
There are no indications the Bill will flop having been passed in the second reading.
