NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 20 – Students who scored a mean grade of E in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations decreased by 15,629 compared to 2021.
According to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu, said that data indicates 30,822 students scored grade E compared to 46,151 in the year 2021.
The majority of the students were male students who are 18,062 and 12,760 were female.
“Number of candidates with a mean grade of E has declined by 3.49% from 5.56% in the previous year 2021,” he said.
The number of candidates with D+ and above is 522, 588 (59.14%) compared to 53.29% in 2021 while those who scored D+ and below are 489,081 which is 55.36% in 2022.
According to the results released, majority of students scored D- at 167,758.
The number of candidates who scored D were 155,480 while the second highest proportion followed is Grade D+ at 135,021.
