NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 15 – Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has rolled out a 1000 shillings per term schools fees program in all day secondary schools within his Constituency.
Speaking shortly after launching the program at Mugoiri mixed secondary, Nyoro said 14,000 students will benefit from what he termed as one of a kind program which is set to improve the education standards in the Constituency.
“We have launched a very elaborate programme of revamping our infrastructure in all our 60 day schools cutting across all students. We have reduced the fee that parents pay from 5000 shillings to 1000 shillings,” Nyoro said.
“The Kiharu NG-CDF and our other stakeholders will handle the rest and ensure our students go to school without worrying about where they will get the fees from.”
MP Nyoro stated that the program which will utilize about Sh. 60 million from the NG-CDF will ease the burden of parents who are struggle to raise school fees for their children.
“We will also inject 10 million shillings from Kiharu NG-CDF to cater for revision materials because we have realized parents also have a huge burden of buying books,” he said.
The program dubbed Masomo Bora will also ensure that students are fed in schools even on Saturdays when they attend remedial classes.
