NAIROBI, Kenya, April 9 – The Human Resource Management Professional Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has become the first exam body in Kenya to administer the inaugural competency-based craft certificate in HRM.
This aligns with the government’s transition to competency-based curriculum (CBC) in 2017, signaling a commitment to modernize education and training systems.
“There are many developments happening currently in the technical and vocational education and training sub-sector. Key among the developments is the departure from the knowledge-based curriculum to a competence based one. This CBET HR curriculum has been developed in cognizance of the changes,” said Margaret Nguu, CEO of HRMPEB.
The competency-based education and training (CBET) Craft in HR exams will run concurrently with the second examination series for the Diploma in HR, accommodating 123 candidates across three examination centers nationwide from April 9th to April 12th, 2024.
Among them, 86 candidates will undertake the CBET Diploma examination, while 37 students will sit for the Craft Certificate in HRM.
The CBET Diploma examinations will be conducted at Kenya Coast Polytechnic, Sigalagala Polytechnic, and Kabete Polytechnic.
These centers have been strategically chosen to ensure accessibility and convenience for candidates across different regions of the country.
“As an Exam Body we are delighted to administer our First CBET Craft certificate in HRM examinations. The Certificate course is designed to equip individuals with the competences required to practice as Human Resource Assistants in both public and private sectors,” added Nguu.
“It reflects the employers’ demand for qualified personnel, which would enable them to compete in an environment where the technology is constantly evolving, and the expectations of clients are becoming ever more demanding.’’
