Patron’s Cup 2025: Golf, Glamour and Community Spirit Shine at Muthaiga

The lush greens of Muthaiga Golf Club came alive as the Patron’s Cup 2025 teed off in spectacular style, offering not just a showcase of golfing brilliance, but also a celebration of community, elegance and Kenyan sporting culture.

The annual tournament drew some of the finest golfers from clubs across the country. From the very first tee-off, fans were treated to breathtaking drives, nail-biting putts and edge-of-the-seat finishes that kept the gallery on its feet. Each round revealed new stories of grit, precision, and teamwork, proving why the Patron’s Cup in honour of Kenya’s Third President Mwai Kibaki, has earned its reputation as one of the country’s most prestigious golfing events.

When the final putt dropped, it was the hosts, Muthaiga Golf Club, who triumphed on home turf. Players and fans erupted in celebration as the coveted trophy was lifted high against the Nairobi sunset. The victory reaffirmed Muthaiga’s standing as a powerhouse in Kenyan golf, with the team’s composure, consistency and camaraderie shining through when it mattered most.

Guests, Sponsors, and Recognition

The evening program, which ran from 7:00pm, featured remarks from Golf Kenya President Philip Ochola, PS Sports Elijah Mwangi, and members of the Patron’s family led by Judy Kibaki. Platinum, Gold, and Bronze sponsors were recognised, with Capital FM’s Bernard Momanyi, the Embassy of Barbados led by Ambassador William McDonald, and several corporate partners including KWAL, CBK, CarXpress, Afrisend, and Giovanne Gentile, all giving speeches.

But beyond the competition, the Patron’s Cup was about something larger. It was a weekend of connections — old friends reunited on the fairways, families enjoyed the scenic ambience, and corporate partners engaged with Kenya’s vibrant sports community. Shabiki, the official kit sponsor, added colour and flair to the event, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing local talent and supporting excellence in sport. Other sponsors, including Global Trade Centre (GTC), also lent their support to make the event a resounding success.

Tropikal Heat also provided hampers for players. Special honours went to the Junior MVP, awarded by Dr. Kaisha, and the Ladies MVP, presented by KLGU.

Tournament organisers hailed the quality of play and the electric energy that swept across the course. They noted that each edition of the Patron’s Cup grows in stature, drawing bigger crowds and elevating Kenya’s profile as a golfing destination in Africa.

As twilight descended on Muthaiga, it was clear this was more than just a golf tournament.
