NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 2 – President Ruto was named one of the most influential Africans in 2023 by the premier magazine ‘New African’.
The accolade comes a month after US based ‘Time Magazine’ cited him among the 100 most influential leaders.
President Ruto’s dedication to addressing climate-related issues extends beyond environmental concerns as he has been spearheading the case for new climate finance solutions for both Africa and the global community.
The President continues to actively work towards facilitating visa-free travel within the continent by eliminating visa requirements for all African visitors by the end of the year.
This strategic move aims to foster a more interconnected Africa.
During the Inaugural African Climate Summit held in Nairobi in September Ruto staked his reputation as a global leader of substance by securing 2.3 billion Us Dollar of green funding to the continent and made a powerful Declaration on new global taxes as well restructuring the financial architecture that formed a backdrop to the COP 28 Summit in UAE.
“In Africa we can be a green Industrial hub that helps other regions achieve their net zero strategies by 2050.Unlocking the renewable energy resources that we have in our continent is not only good for Africa but the rest of the world,’’ said Ruto.
Since stepping into office President Ruto has displayed remarkable move in his leadership by gearing forward his Administration Agenda of removing food and fuel subsidies in order to attract financial support from IMF and the World Bank, a move that has so far continued to face a series of blows from the Azimio la Umoja opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Other Kenyans on the list include Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi, 1500 Double Olympic and World Champion Faith Kipyegon, Environmentalist Wanjira Mathai, Celebrity Chef Ali Mandhry, filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu, Marathoner Kelvin Kiptum.
