NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 18 – Tana River senator Danson Mungatana has urged the former prime minister Raila Odinga to stand and support President William Ruto during the 2027 general election.
The senator has congratulated President William Ruto for backing and supporting the former prime minister in his interest to vie for the African Union(AU) Commission chairmanship,
Mungatana stressed that Odinga should reciprocate the move by supporting the president in the coming elections just like the president stood with him in 2007 and now in 2024.
“The President has proved that he is a statement, that he does not have any problem with anyone and when it comes to things that will push the agenda of Kenya, he will stand with you whether you are on the opposition side or his supporter,” he stated.
“I want to plead with the former prime minister, that in 2007, William Ruto stood with you and now 17 years later he is helping you. I would like to urge you that when the time comes in 2027, stand with him as he did for you. The truth is that you cannot have any big position in the African Union or any international body if your government does not support you,” he added
The senator has further congratulated Raila for his bold step to express interest in vying for the AU Chairmanship seat stressing that Kenya will be among the largest beneficiaries from the achievement.
This is a good opportunity because it will help us as Kenyans. Many people who do not know international and regional politics, when we have one of us in the position we get to get many benefits that will help us as Kenyans,” he said.
