NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 16 – Quiver Steak House, a popular nightclub in Nairobi’s Milimani area, has bowed to public pressure and made a bold move to permanently turn down its speakers. The decision comes after months of complaints from neighboring residents, who have endured sleepless nights due to excessive noise from the club.
In response to the outcry, Quiver has embraced what it calls a “groundbreaking decision”—becoming the first club in the city to stop playing music entirely. In a surprising twist, the club has opted to focus on offering a more intimate and conversation-friendly experience for its patrons.
“We believe that people can still eat, drink, and have fun while engaging in meaningful conversations without the distraction of loud music,” the club said in a statement. “This unique approach aims to create a vibrant atmosphere where guests can truly connect with one another.”
Located just a stone’s throw away from Nairobi’s Military Headquarters, State House, and the Nairobi County Police Headquarters, the club’s decision to eliminate loud music has been hailed as a step toward creating a more peaceful environment in the area. The management added, “By eliminating loud music, we encourage a more social environment where laughter, chatter, and the clinking of glasses take center stage.”
Patrons are now being invited to “explore a different way to enjoy a night out—one where the rhythm is set by the energy of our guests rather than booming speakers.”
Despite this innovative shift, some local residents remain cautious. “The club blasts its music during the dead hours of the night,” said one frustrated neighbor, expressing hope that the new measures will bring the much-needed peace they’ve been calling for.
The club’s move to quieten down offers an intriguing alternative for Nairobi’s nightlife, setting the stage for what could be a trend of more mindful social spaces in the city.
