France's two-round presidential polls will be held late this month and in early May/XINHUAPARIS, Apr 12 – Incumbent French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Wednesday promised not to raise taxes if he wins a second term in the upcoming elections.
He also warned of a “massive crisis of confidence” if France misses its deficit target.
The conservative UMP candidate promised to accelerate growth by 0.7 percent this year, and by 2 percent up to 2017.
France’s two-round presidential elections will be held late this month and in early May.
Recent polls have suggested Sarkozy’s rival, the socialist candidate Francois Hollande is expected to win the vote.
