NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 21 – Starlink added 10,191 fixed internet subscribers in Kenya in the year to June 30, 2026, raising its market share to one percent, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

The Elon Musk-owned satellite internet provider had 27,616 fixed internet subscribers as of June 30, up from 17,425 a year earlier.

Starlink’s market share increased from 0.8 percent to one per cent during the period.

Starlink entered the Kenyan market in 2023, offering satellite internet services in areas with limited access to fixed broadband.

Its uptake has also been supported by lower upfront costs for its standard kit, which have fallen from about Sh89,000 to between Sh29,999 and Sh39,500.

Starlink competes with local internet providers, including Safaricom and Wananchi Group.
