NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 20 — Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu was given mor time on Friday to file her response over an incident abroad over which she if facing a UDA disciplinary committee.
Nyamu who appeared before the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party disciplinary committee to answer questions over misconduct arising from an incident in Dubai is due to return on Tuesday.
“Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu today appeared before the UDA disciplinary Committee chaired by Charles Njenga. Β The senator was allowed more time to respond to the allegations levelled against her by a Β party member,” the party said in a statement.
In the said incident, Nyamu, intoxicated, was captured in an altercation at a party with his childrenβs father and musician Samidoh, and his wife, prompting the UDA party to summon the Senator.
A letterΒ from the party on DecemberΒ 23, 2022, stated that Nyamuβs conduct brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the UDA party and injured its reputation.
UDA Disciplinary Committee Chairperson Charles Njenga also cited violation of the partyβs Code of Conduct and Nyamuβs oath of office.
Njenga stated that her behavior in the incident was not in line with the expected conduct of a member serving in public office.
Following the Dubai incident which attracted public criticism, Nyamu committed to quitting alcohol and ending her relationship with the musician.
