NAIROBI, Kenya, May 18 –Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has challenged the new County health service board members to work towards improving services at medical facilities run by the County.
Speaking during the inauguration of new board members of Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, Pumwani Maternity, Pumwani College of Nursing and Midwifery, Mutuini Hospital, The Nairobi Funeral Home, Sakaja told the new members to take their work seriously as they are answerable to the public.
“We must see our people as customers. I am relying on you new board members to start the process of culture change,” he said, “let us give people dignity.”
There has been public outcry over poor service delivery in county hospitals in Nairobi due to lack of drugs, poor service among other inefficiencies.
“You should provide additional training for the medical staff and introduce innovative approaches to address the challenges faced by the hospital staff,” the Governor said.
Just recently, there was a public uproar after a woman was captured on video giving birth in a hospital corridor without the help of medical staff after being denied access by security guards.
